Hey there guys, need about 8" of stainless steel round stock. spending 50+ dollars on a foot is pretty ridiculous, so maybe someone has some scrap they are willing to rid of?need it asap in order to finish my exhaust on my cb350.
Tell me again why you are not on the NYCVinMoto list?
You do know that there is a member(hell hes the guy running the list) that builds high end bikes and exhausts in BK.
post up over there and you will be surprised by the people that might be able to help.
First, get on NYCVinMoto list, even I'm on it and I'm in Florida
Next, why are you looking for solid bar?
It's a hell if a lot of waste to machine it into tube for exhaust or are you planning something different?
I've used 6061 tube and a washer welded to pipe to make flanges, lot lighter than stainless
I am on NYCVinMoto... and I know who you're talking about, he's just a busy guy most of the time, and honestly never thought to ask him directly, or even to post to the list.
This was the plan that me and thebeave (guy welding my exhaust) came up with.
the issue here is that the diameter of the tubing we used is very close to the port size, and is actually smaller then the exhaust gaskets. we attempted to make some flanges using some larger tubing, but they failed miserable and were just a complete pain to work with. I had intended to use the stock mounts with this design. we chose stainless bar, machined down to the specified measurements because we figured it would be a lot cleaner to mount it all up and would avoid any possible sealing issues we might run into by using smaller diameter tubing.
If someone has a better idea, please, we are open to suggestion.
In that case you need a reducer.
Pretty sure I understand now
Best thing to do would be get some 1/4" plate and cut mounting flange, weld directly to pipe about 3/8" off head
Weld a washer across pipe end to max diameter of port with inside shaped to fit gasket and also act as an anti-reversion baffle (kinda pear shaped ;D )
You have a spare head to use as fixture?
