15W50 instead of 20W40

Service manual says I need 20W40 oil but I can't find any in local stores. Can I fill her with 15W50?
It's 1997 Yamaha SR250.

Yup. That's what I'm using in my Seca (also calls for 20W-40). Covered a couple of thousand miles and no (new) issues.

15W-50 has an even broader temperature range than 20W-40. It is a superior choice, IMO.

ADC is correct. You could also use 10w40 and still be inside OEM specifications

Just don't use ordinary motor oil,need JASO spec (Rotella)
