1967 Honda CL90 Barn Find. Clutch Question!

So I picked up a CL90 got it running....

The issue is that when I start to release the clutch it moves and when its fully released it dies on me. I've got a touchy clutch on a few of my bikes but this doesnt seem right.

Is there an adjustment that needs to be made or am I just f'ing it up?

Thanks!

Sounds like it needs a rebuild. I mean, not trying to be a dick, but it really sounds like there's more going on with the transmission itself instead of just the clutch. If it was slipping, it would still run when you're all the way off the clutch. If it wasn't engaging fully, then it would try and move and die when you pull it all the way in. Sounds like there's a lot more going on man. Wish you luck. I guess the good thing is, it's a nice small engine and shouldn't be that bad as far as rebuilding. And it's light too!

I don't know if it's relevant, but my old 175 would do that when it was running on 1 cylinder. It would sit at idle just fine, but once it was in gear it didn't have the power to get out of it's own way.

Thanks,
I'm just trying to troubleshoot the bike before I start tearing things apart. If it aint broke dont fix it.

Check the ignition timing and make sure the carb is clean.

Sounds like it's bogging under load - which can be over-advanced timing or running lean.

Did you ever find a solution, I am having the same issue now. Even with a new piston and bored cylinder on my cl90.
