just copy and pasted from another forum i post on.
located right outside of detroit michigan

I picked this bike up about two years ago, started really working on it this past spring and its sat all summer. it needs a good home and someone to finish her up. its mid stage of a build, but its at a point where someone can finish it as theyd like.
when i got the bike, it had no motor in it. i did however pick one up. ive never actually fired it up, didnt get around to finishing it to that point.

mileage is unknown on motor, frame has less then 3500 on it. i do not have a title for it, seeing as its a 42 year old bike and i received it as a parts bike.

modifications
-stretched rear swing arm. 5 1/2 inches longer then stock, done by my roommates stepdad(hes known for his welding work, featured in some magazines) so its done properly.
-rear is cut short
-7/8 drag bars
-smaller tank then stock from an old honda dirtbike
-new(ish) rear tire. 3.25 inches wide. stock is 3.00, i have a spare rear rim and stock tire that comes with the bike
-fresh matte black paint job, i tore the bike down to bare frame and painted it

what needs to be done to finish it
-needs a custom seat made(i can give you my plans for the seat i was going to build)
-needs a battery
-needs coil pack
-needs chain(must be cut to custom length due to the 5 1/2 inch stretch)
-needs front brake adjusted
-rear brake must be hooked up
-swing arm needs paint, rear rim needs paint finished.
-comes, with everything besides battery, coil and chain. i have bins full of parts and random boxes with everything else to finish it up.
comes with all the stock parts minus the handle bars plus the original owners manual

looking to get $450 flat for it. that puts me dead even with what ive spent including what i paid for the bike.
moving back across country in a month, towing my car, dont wanna haul the bike with me.

i have a build thread on this site with more insight on the bike

Re: 1971 cb175 bobber/dragstyle build Detroit Michigan $850

over 100 views over night, no interests. give me input guys, my price does seem kinda steep, but just shoot me what youd offer if you want it. worst i can do is say no.

im leaning towards finishing the paint to at least make it look better. i just dont care too.

seat looks super uncomfortable... and you live too far from me. I'd say if you had it road worthy you would get your asking price. It's hard to sell a project for the time/money you have in it, unless you can find someone with your same "Vision".

Good luck!

Re: 1971 cb175 bobber/dragstyle build Detroit Michigan $850

Honestly man, for $850 that bike needs a title and to be running AT THE LEAST. Basically you're selling a parts bike (no matter how much work you have into it) and a cb175 parts bike isn't worth $850.

Don't take this the wrong way. I hope you sell it and make a few bucks. I really do.

Get it running, chase down a title, throw a seat on it and you might see a number close to your asking price.

Two/Two-fitty tops as it sits in my neck of the woods... maybe not even that for something that doesn't require a class M license. I smell regret all over this bike... put it on CL and get what you can. Just letting you know what your target demographic is thinking when they see a little CC parts bike with only less than half it's parts, which is what this is.

Re: 1971 cb175 bobber/dragstyle build Detroit Michigan $850

this was the input i was looking for guys. thanks. its why i posted it up on here.
but im going to grab a few cans of paint tomorrow and just finish up the paint, itll be in my best interest to have it looking as best as possible.
on craigslist in this area, all stock cb175s are selling around 1500. and some i found online were going for more. so based on research, 850 seemed good.
honestly i dont wanna sell it. i prefer to finish what i start, but my car is motorless, which is a problem seeing as winter is coming up soon.
im going to continue to work on it then, theres really not much left, and ill just make the seat i had planned and leave this posted up here to see if anyone does happen to want it.

im open to all offers on it though. 850 isnt the real price im looking for, just need to fund a motor.

ill also get up to s.o.s and apply for a lost title this week, i just didnt wanna bother with getting a title in my name if im just getting rid of it.

$1500 for a stock one, while high in my opinion, makes way more sense than $850 for this one.

If it doesn't have that much to do to have it running, then why not just do it? Honestly it looks like it needs quite a bit of work. Reminds me of the CL people who say a bike just needs the carbs adjusted and it'll run fine. That's NEVER the case.

As far as the title goes, what you're saying makes no sense. Having the title will make the bike worth more than as it sits now, which is merely a parts bike. To put it bluntly, it just sounds like you're being lazy.

Re: 1971 cb175 bobber/dragstyle build Detroit Michigan $850

I went and got it titled. But I've changed my mind on selling it. I'm moving to sacramento next year, so it'll be good on gas.
I'm seeking a 350 motor though, to swap out the 175 for a little more power.
Can someone please close this thread? I'm posting from my blackberry so I can't do it.
Ill continue to update my project log over the next few weeks also.
Thanks. Sorry for wasting forum space with this thread.

that cant be the stock rear shock set-up....is it? they dont look like they would compress.

Re: 1971 cb175 bobber/dragstyle build Detroit Michigan $850

A 350 motor will not fit in that frame... Not without a ton of fab work.

anybody be willing to pay 450 for it as is? thats a good chunk less then my original asking price.

everything ive read says a 350 would bolt right into the 175 frame with little to no modifications. but who knows if im right or wrong, doesnt matter to me. i just want it gone so i can move.
