Hey All,

Ive been lurking these forums for months preparing to get my first bike since I dont know ANYTHING about motorcycles, engines or electricity. After looking at all the amazing bikes you folks build its way too easy to get extra ambitious which is just what happened when I picked up this little abandoned project.

Im a bike rider (messengered for years) and love going fast on two wheels and feel way more comfortable rolling through traffic than crossing the street on my feet. So while Im stoked to ride, who knows when my little belle will be road worthy!

When picked her up she seemed to be running ok and rode ok though the brakes were real mushy. The PO had dreams of going full cafe and had installed motobits rearsets and clubmans. When I got it back to brooklyn it was idling pretty fast though IDK how much so cus the tach doesnt work. I took the carbs apart and the floats were covered in solder and full of gas. New floats were ordered along with fuel lines and filters, new cables for everything and new fork seals.

So I was really hoping the new floats would solve the idle problem. The PO had it set up without pods or air box!! I reinstalled the original air box (filters look clean) and installed the new floats - I didnt mess with float height assuming they were set for stock running but maybe Im wrong. After starting up she idled WAAAAYY faster!!! Like really scary fast! I had set the fuel and air mixture screws to the factory specs but before getting to fiddle with them my battery died (no tender yet). Ive looked around and it seems like it could be a possible vacuum leak? does that sound right?? Also the throttle cable is a little worn but the new one came in the mail today.

Any help would be really appreciated!

Oh also the PO had just installed new stock sized jets and cleaned the carbs - assuming he did an ok job but they looked clean. Just trying to eliminate possibilities...
