1971 Kawasaki G3SSA brat/cafe mix

To the title, it is a Kawasaki G3SSA that can't really be defined as any certain style. But I like it either way. I picked the bike up earlier this year up in a little town in Idaho. Also, this is my first motorcycle altogether.

This is how it sat when I picked it up. Not pictured is a horrible makeshift taillight that was made from scrap metal as the mount and a huge trailer taillight.

I rode it like this for a little bit but then with the vinyl peeling and some rusting on the tank I decided to paint it matte black.

Next I bought clubman bars and installed those.

I was playing around with just deleting the rear fender altogether but that didn't last too long (didn't like getting my back soaked with water).

I put the fender back on and painted the rims, spokes, hubs, and lower forks black. I also cut about 3 1/2" off of the handlebars so the handles weren't sticking out so wide.

I picked up a tank and side covers off of Ebay to install on the bike. However, the tank was full of rust so I had to clean that out. I went the vinegar route to get it cleaned and it worked out perfectly.

I have a seat pan that is currently being worked on to look like this in the end.

Other things I'm planning on doing.

-Custom cables because the other ones are too long.
-Get 27mm clip ons.
-Shorten the rear fender another 3".
-Powdercoat the wheels and frame
-Get a bigger headlight
-New rear shocks
-Shorten the front forks
-Redo the wiring

Oh man, I thought you were going the complete wrong direction for a while... until I saw that last pic (well, the last one before the seat). That orange is awesome and just belongs on that bike. Looks very light and nimble now. I like it.

Yeah I never thought that I would like orange but I saw and thought it would look great, especially with the black wheels. The matte black didn't go as much with the style I was going towards so it needed a change.

Hi RSB, sweet bike! I just picked up a 1971 a few weeks back... I've heard plenty of good things about these little rotary valved motors, from what I've read on them, it seems pretty straight forward to squeeze almost double then double theHP than stock... If that's your thing, that is?
Cheers,
Andrew

RSB who are you having work on your seat? I have been looking for someone who is good although does not charge an arm and a leg to do a seat cover and foam.

Looks like a fun lil scoot! I'd love to get my hands on a small bore bike and do a completely stripped out race looking bike.
Cant wait to see how your's turns out!

Thanks guys.

I'm getting the seat done by a friend of mine that does custom bikes. He has a guy in his shop that does vinyl/leather work. It should be around $150 with the foam and vinyl work.
