1972 cb/cl 100

Pics are neat. I'll include one of a cb100 that got a full engine rebuild and TUNING at with 714 miles on the clock. The owner that has had the bike since new left it idling outside his shop with a full tank and forgot about it. Got a little warm. Then he tried to rebuild it himself. And then he brought it to me.

That 100 looks nice. I wish the PO had more stock parts when I bought it. I'd love to have the fenders and airbox.

To my surprise the new carb was at my door when I got home from work yesterday. I did not install it yet, but it is significantly different from the other one, bigger bowl and floats, air screw and idle screw super easy to access, the whole thing feels better made. I'll try to find time to put it on there today. Might not be until tomorrow though.

Open the bowl and ensure floats at 24mm. (Mine was dead nuts out the box.)

Turn A/F mix in til it bottoms GENTLY. Then out 1 1/4 - 1 1/2 turns out.

(BTW, problem isnt so much damaging the seat. What can happen is you jam the needle tip into the seat. and "pop" when you turn it out the tip of the needle will break off. Stuck in the seat...FOREVER)

Turn Idle speed until you can see a decent bit light under slide. 1mm or a bit more.

Install it. Then fire her up and reset idle speed.

Ride her til good and warm, then dial in A/F mix, then re-adjust idle speed.

DONE! ;D

You can mess w plug chops, needle height and "what not" later.

Had a few minutes free yesterday. I got the carbs swapped, which took some throttle cable adjustment. Checked float level, right at 24mm. I'll set idle and check air mix. Hoping to have a few minutes to start it up today, if not, no riding until after the weekend. Soaking rain coming in tomorrow morning until Monday.

I did find I have a slow drip from the petcock when the fuel is shut off. I had it off a couple months ago and everything looked good. Is there a gasket in there I should look into?

Cool thanks Trek. I did not start it before my job today, so we'll see if the rain can hold off in the morning. Otherwise Monday I'll start it.

Oh and the rubber seal thing behind the little handle (turner thingy) thats what actually turns the gas on and off.

Looks like it will wait until Monday

For a positive post, the ribs for lunch will not be affected by the rain.

Yeah

I got handed a to do list from the wifey, so no go on the install of carb, battery, and spark plug.

May be 2morrow, if the temps ain't so freaking high.

Took it for a ride today. It's lean so tomorrow I am going to pop one clip down on the jet needle to richen it up. I found that my inline filter is in the way of the choke lever, so I might have to make an adjustment. I had to pull it and stretch the line slightly to get the choke fully engaged. Idle is great, just having some throttle response issues. If I can't figure it out, I might take it to a small engine shop a few miles away. Owner is a real cool dude. I'll keep you all posted.

Difference between the carbs.
