yup its an h4, made by emgo. both the headlight and the ears are from DCC. good dudes over@ DCC. was updated right away via email once it came in and when it shipped out. (it was backordered) the lighting difference is night and day. haha :D

Did you have any trouble hooking up the old wires to your new headlight/bulb?

no, none at all. the h4 harness connector (bulb pigtail) is actually color coded the exact same way my headlight wires were, green, white and blue. i took off the rubber boot on the old sealed beam light to check where each wire connected to on the sealed beam light, and they even matched up to the correct connections of the bulb. all i did was cut the old wires off the stock sealed beam light and wired them to the new headlight plug emgo supplied with headlight. (this allowed me to use the factory bullet connectors) there is no hole in the headlight for the high beam indicator, but you could always drill a hole and put it on top if you wanted. i didnt bother because when the high beam is on, you can tell. ;)

got a few things done today. put on my new clutch cable, wrapped the headers, and tested some paint on the side covers. i like the way it turned out.

I like that paint and wrap! I'm much too dirty to keep it natural though.

Any problems with routing the clutch cable under the carb flange? Mine would be a beast to get under there.....

thank you much!

as far as the cluth cable routing goes, it was the way the og cable was ran so i just followed it with the new one. i didnt want to run it on the outside of the carb because it would be right where the choke lever is. it seems fine so far. the one mistake i did make was i forgot to run the cable up between the gauges like it was before, so i may take the cable off from the lever and redirect it through the gauge mount like before.

well thanks again big rich. i thought about what you posted earlier and went and rerouted the cable on the outside of the carb next to the choke lever and it has made the clutch lever so much smoother. i guess a more vertical route out of the trans has made it less notchy and alot smoother to pull. thanks man! ;D

Love this build. Painted side covers look great. Mind sharing what coller and brand you used.

keep up the good work and pics
Steve

thank you sir.

the paint i used was duplicolor engine enamel with ceramic. the color is "DE 1615 aluminum" the cap shows it being a glossy color but it comes out satin, which is nice given it looks more like the stock finish it wouldve had when new.

i have runs on both sides so im going to sand it down tomorrow and start again. i decided i would attempt upholstering it. the first attempt was a single flat pad. i had some leatherette from a previous door panel project that i already diamond stitched so i decided to use that.

my sewing machine was being a royal bitch and was fighting me the whole time. at 1:30 or so this morning i ran out of thread so i went back to walmart with the old lady and got some more thread and some velcro. after i tryed the machine again, it kept jamming up and then the icing on the cake was the fucking need snapping and hitting me in the forehead. ;D
after i scratched that pad i figured i would do it the way i originally had planned. i wanted it to follow the lines of the hump, but with out the snaps/rivets that are often done. i started by cutting some masonite into a ghetto seat pan and attached the two with aluminum angle brackets i fabbed and bolted to each piece of wood.

i used a yoga mat that i got from walmart previously today and cut it into layers and stacked them on top of one another. dont ever use a yoga mat for a cushion. its too firm, o and i spent 20 dollars on it. :( big mistake. i didnt take any photos of the padding under the cover but here is attempt two on the bike.

after velcroing it to the seat, i didnt like the way it turned out, so i ripped it off the bike and said a few choice words while doing so. im gonna rethink my plan and have another go at it tomorrow when im not so tired. ill update this as i progress, given i do. ::)

Great choice on that seat! Looks real good on the bike. I like your diamond stitch go the best. You should have another go at that. for padding try looking in the camping section you can get cheap camp matts for under $10. double up a couple layers and then if you want use some 1" cushion foam over that and it will be pretty comfy. you need to create a pan to fit over the contours of the seat pan. easiest way is to use fiberglass.

Just a little fyi in case you end up doing another seat pad with the diamond pleats, to get the pleats to be more prominant you need to sew the padding to the vinyl/leather. If the padding doesn't have a scrim backing you will need to add material to the back side as well to prevent the material from cutting through the padding.

Bike is looking good.

the vinyl has foam stitched to it. thats what the tan material with the black diamond stitch pattern drawn on it is. its not very thick but did the job. i think since the cover was stretched so tight over the cushion that it made the pleating compress some. doesnt look the best but will do for now, its only temp.

thanks for the kind words guys.
