1972 CB450 clutch engagement problem

Clutch is not engaging and I tracked it down the the throw out worm"adjustable piece on side cover" is not making contact with the main rod"that travels through the engine to the clutch pack".

I picked up this bike and it was partially dismantled. On the clutch basket side everything is there per diagrams. On the other side of the engine where the worm is, it seems that I am missing a piece that goes into the worm and fills the void between the worm and the rod. Or... Someone pit in too short of a rod in this bike. There is no adjustment I can make that woukd initiate contact between the worm and the rod. I took the worm apart and if I place it fully against the rod it makes contact with the sprocket which leeds me to believe I have a missing part. Does anyone have a diagram for this or can anyone shed some light on my issue. Below are some pictures to help illustrate ehat I am talking about. And yes, the worm is funstioning properly and is adjustable.

Are you possibly missing the ball bearing that goes between the worm gear and the rod?

That is a strong possibility. If you can refer to my first picture this bike does not have anything between the worm and rod and there is nothing inside the worm. Is there suppose to be a ball bearing?

You are welcome hope it fixes er up. Those worm gears wear fast so you might wanna look for an aftermarket replacement for that while you are at it.

Not sure the size of the ball bearing and it is no longer available from honda, maybe somebody else knows. However it will be very close to the same diameter as the rod. A used one in good shape would be fine.
