12,XXX miles, third owner (to my knowledge). I bought it two years ago with 8,XXX on the clock. Clean title in hand. Listing it on here before Craigslist because I don't want her to go to some idiot who will spray paint the tank and put ape hangers on her and call it a bobber...
Minor cosmetic mods: drag bars, low profile brake light and turn signals, single side mirror, rubber grips.
Still have all the unmolested original parts (except the old yellow throttle cable), bike could be easily reverted to stock form.
Starts every time, little cold blooded but reliable as all hell, literally everything on this bike works. You can even kick start it if you feel like it. It has a few quirks just like any old bike (if you engine brake in 2nd, it sticks on the next gear change...etc), but runs strong through all the gears and the full rev range.
The pipes are 42 years old and you can still use them as shaving mirrors. The paint isn't faded, the rubber, plastic, and vinyl isn't cracking, and pretty much all the screws and bolts come off when you want them to. It's not show quality - it has its scuffs, scratches, and flakes, but it sure doesn't look as old as it is.
One of the screws holding one of the exhaust heat shields on had been sheared off before I bought it, the rest come off. I think it has a shallow dime-sized dent on one of the tank creases. One of the side covers has lost some clear coat. The left side cover emblem came off and I lost the big decorative screw, still have the emblem though. That's about it.
Done since I've owned it: valves adjusted, chain replaced, new battery, carbs disassembled and cleaned, points gaps adjusted, brake shoes replaced, oil and air filters cleaned, oil and plugs changed, probably a few others that I'm forgetting. I have the FSM and the Clymer manual. No maintenance records before my time but I've kept track of what I've done.
Asking price: $2500. Will consider trades +/- cash for a modern naked or sport bike of medium displacement (500-800), preferably Honda 599 or similar.
I'm in no rush to sell and will wait for the right buyer. I will include all the original and spare parts and manuals I have. I can take more pictures if needed - I just realized that I only ever take pics of the left side (love those pipes). Feel free to contact me with questions or requests, I'm usually pretty quick to respond. Thanks!
