1972 Honda cl350 ignition coil

I just got a 1972 Honda cl350 and everything works great except the left ignition coil. Im trying to find a replacement but I can't seem to find the same one my bike has. The stock coil has two separate coils for each cylinder, but I can only find coils that split into two separate wires. Does that makes sense? Could I use the coil that splits on my 72 cl350?

Sorry if this doesn't make the most sense. I am just learning to work on motorcycles.

The Honda 350 uses a 180° firing order so I'm afraid you do need two coils.

On the plus side, there are about 50 of them on eBay right now provided you want to stick with the stock selection.

Is there another place I can get the coils I need besides ebay? I don't really want to risk buying a pair of coils that might not work.

You can call around your local Honda Powersports dealerships and see if they have any in stock. They're pretty spendy though. If you want new you may want to switch over to a different brand/type and fab mounting brackets as needed.

less than 15 bucks, done. hell, get both. dont forget some new wires - chances are they arent too far behind the failing coil

ktriple found you a good link.

Buying universal that fits exact specifications will most of the time be better than buying specific, as people charge more for specific. These parts usually run around: bolts, nuts, fasteners, handlebars, grips, some seats, sprockets, some gears, tires, etc.. but won't work with cylinder heads, blocks and pistons... those kinds of things are not universal, but something like the Ignition Coil is.

I can attest to the z1 coils working great, on a 350 mounting them should be pretty simple, I have set on my 360 and have NO issues with them at all. I didn't even feel like messing with stockers on my 450 so I got a set of z1's and they went straight on.

Get 2 and the wires/plug caps from z1. Should cost about 45-50 bucks, and then never worry about them as long as you ride.

The best advice I can give you if your working on a budget is to buy Accel 140408 coils they are made for points type harleys but you have to go cooler one heat range on your plugs you can find these on ebay for about fifty dollars and that works for both cylinders you just gotta find a way to mount them or if money is not a issue you can fork out the money for two separate coils you can get some from this site or find some accel single coils

Which plugs did you buy?

Sorry, talking about the cables to the plugs. Can I just reuse the old ones or do I have to buy new cables and caps?

Also, I can and will need to use the old condensor for these ignition coils? Sorry, I know nothing about electronics. I'm worried im going to buy the wrong crap or it will be a huge pain in the ass to mount to the bike.

Buy new plug wires and caps, the caps have resistors in them that can burn up, the old wires can get corroded inside and cause problems.

Get new points set that has a condenser in it. Condensers will "dry up" so to say if they are old and stop doing their job.

??? Do the Z1s mentioned above have their own condensor? I need a write up on how the hell this stuff works...

So, I connected a multimeter to the negative/positive ends of my ignition coil, and I got a value of 4.9 ohms...does this sound correct? Does this mean the ignition coil is not the problem?
