Well, sold a car to help pay for a ring for the lady....and well, I saw a thread on here about some 2-stroke action and saw what I thought to be a good deal on a GT750....now I have one. I really do hate you guys! haha. This will be a slow build until I finish up the KZ550 build I'm currently doing...but if anyone knows some "smart" things to do that would help this build along, I'm all ears. Thanks guys.

Well, Bruno....the feeling is mutual! I hate you, too........I've been looking for a decent GT750 for years....around my home they are few and far between......with the ones that you do find being either basket cases or restored high dollar bikes.

Good luck on your build and keep us posted!

Would love to have a "Water Buffalo" some day. Those things are badass! If your gonna go the resto/stock route i have A LOT of stock parts off of a 74' & 76' GT250 that will swap over. How about some more pics?

Yeah, I'm not sure about stock on this one...I mean the thing weighs as much as a cow...er buffalo...heh. I would think that putting the stock stuff on will just make it heavier. Here's a couple more pics as requested. It has drum rear and dual disks up front. I also have the matching side covers too!

Good score on that 1973 GT750K.

Shopping list:
Tires and chain and cables etc as required.
Lighter disks from a CBR600F2
Lighter SV650 calipers and master cylinder
Clean up the ports.
3mm barrel spacer from Cometic and 3mm off the top of the barrels
Motocross bars
1 set of JEMCO pipes
125 main jets
Different seat
learn to smile like a kid again...............

All assuming that it's A/ running and B/ has a title.

BTW, I have two of them. Both projects and both draining the bank account like an oil tanker on the rocks.

It is not running, and I got it from a friend who's grandpa passed away. Went to the DMV with pics and signed paper from the state (which acts as a bill of sale) so got it all in order ;) He had tried to hotwire the thing because he couldn't find the key and fried some of the wiring harness. I happen to make custom medical cables for a living...so wiring isn't a problem. I'm going to see about some of that today and tomorrow to see if I can get lights etc...maybe get the thing to turn over without the kick (although ideally I want to just kick start the thing) I'll get to looking for things on that list...but I'm afraid I'm not going to be doing any engine mods unless I have to. I don't need to drain the bank account too much more or the ol' lady is going to get rid of me before I can marry her. Heh. :-X

Hehehe, I hate us too. We are a bad influence on each other! Shame on us for being creative and building our own bikes and supporting each oher's habits! I love this bike man. Its gonna scream when its done and be a rare sight too. Think clip-ons....

Clip ons are fine if the rider is 6'5" and all muscle. That is one long heavy bike and it really works best with reasonably wide tall bars IMHO.

Well, this is the part where I'd like to say how strong I am etc....but I'm 5'7 and about 155lbs...so maybe clip-ons wouldn't be the greatest idea....how about a drag bar.... ;D

Drag bars are good, but they typically need slightly more angle rearwards to be comfortable.

try sitting on the bike with seat and pegs in position and try to work out what's comfortable with the bar position. Start with stock bars and then a length of straight tube or a broom handle would work to test for height, reach and angle.

My tracker has MX 1" bars and a low seat , stock tank and pegs and I think it will work fine. The bars pull me slightly forwards and lower than stock but only by a few inches, so it works for me.

Tall people can get away with a long stretch, the rest of us need to work at making it comfortable with higher bars further back.

1" rise track bars are super comfy and provide a lot of control on these zuk tripples. I have a set on my 550.

Noted guys. Thanks for the input. I'll look into those bars Louie. The stock ones are kind of crazy. They sweep back at an odd angle, but are relatively comfortable (but really clunky looking).

Well i'm sure whatever bars you choose will be the best, cause its your build and that means its totally up to you for your purpose and style! I wasn't entirely serious about suggesting clipons, even tho they are my favorite style (and im only 5'8" @155 myself lol) and my brother at 2" taller hates them. Drag bars would be cool too on this bike. Take a look at the hideous bars my project bike came with in my build thread. They were pure 70's superpimp... good luck and cheers on the bike man!

E, for some reason I am unable to see any of the early pictures in your thread, but I sure do like how she turned out man! That bike is beautiful. How loud is that sucker. I know the pipes on my KZ right now (without baffles installed yet) are DEAFENING. Gotta be over 120 decibels for sure! I think I'll keep the stockers until I get it running right, and go from there, I've got extra drag bars and stuff laying around so I can always test it to see if I like it or not.

Try a set of superbike or European bend bars....they are a good compromise bend that gets you close to the steering head but are wide enough and angled back to ease the reach for shorter folks. Have you thought about club man bars? You can position them a lot of different ways including flipping them upside down. I have very bad arthritis in both hips so I can't use clip ons due to the strain through my hips, but I was able to come with a good, comfortable position with the club man bars. Just a thought...............

Nice score on the Buffalo!!! Nothing like having two projects going at once ;) I have a friend of a friend, locally, who has restored like 5 of those things, so let me know if you have any questions I could hook you guys up.

Thanks JS, I will definitely look into those too. And Yeah I'll probably take you up on that offer TTT, I may need some help when I get some room to work on the beast! haha First things first: Electrical. Ordered up a new ignition with keys, should be here in 2 weeks or so. But in the meantime I'll see if I can wire it to another ignition I have laying around and get some lights or the motor to turn over. Very smooth turning it over by kicking though. Should be sweet!
