1973 Honda CB200 Revival

Hey guys, Been on DTT for quite some time as a lurker. Ive had a couple smaller cc honda projects over the last years that you guys have been more then helpful with. So far theres been a 1972 cb175(sold), 1976 cb125, and now this guy the 1973 cb200. I recently finished up my shed find cb125s so needed another project after reluctantly getting rid of the first cb175 I wasnt able to finish due to funds and I really wasnt happy with the gsxr front end swap the previous owner had done. Lucky me though, I was browsing the online ads and this cb200 came up. It is most definitely a basket case, but given the asking price and amount of extras the guy had, i was forced to jump on it. Im not certain that this project will be expedited by any means given the full class schedule this semester, and much of it being in boxes. However its a bike that ive been wanting to complete and i will get it done this time around! Especially since im very happy with the platform ive been given. After going through the gobs of extra parts i was surprised to see i was missing quite a bit... However im lucky Bobs motorycle scrap yard here in AZ has most of what ill be needing. Heres some pics of the Beauty..

As you can see i scored a pretty killer tank. The thing is complete minus the gas locking mechanism, and minor surface rust inside, no dents! Gauges are very nice as well. I also got a couple sets of CB pipes, 4 complete(more/less) cb200 motors, one that matches the bike which I will most likely utilize and rebuild the top end on it. Theres some other parts as well such as multiple wiring harnesses.. I ended up spending the night sorting everything out and coming up with the "list", which im certain will continue to grow as the days go on.

List:
-Complete Top End Rebuild (pistons, rings, valves, etc)
-Handlebars
-Brake lever
-Grips
-Gas cap locking mechanism, rubber mounts.
-Upper Motor Mount
-Ignition
-Tires
-Redo the Seat
-Scrambler Mid-pipes
-Wiring Harness
-???

So thats pretty much where im at. Really looking forward to updating this project as frequently as possible and picking everybodys brain here for all those little details. :)

Was able to score some parts over the weekend at bobs. Got some scrambler pipes, upper motor mount, ignition, and some drag bars. Its a slow progress, been lookin at the wiring harness and what all this entails. Found some other needed goodies in the box o parts. Slowly but Shirley

I will be in touch when I have a better idea what i'll need for my cb200...any more of those CL headers kickin around??

sounds good Desmo, think there might of been another set of cl pipes there.. not sure if they were 175s or 360s though..

Thanks for the words guys. This is one of the bigger projects ive tackled with it being in pieces etc. seems to be going smooth, although im certain of a top end rebuild is in order, as its easier to turn over then the cb125.. was completating using one of the other spare motors.. but id prefer to rebuild the original motor if it isnt too costly.

so latest updates are minimal.. been going through the wiring, pretty sure i have it back together as i can get the starter to turnover, and dash to light up, new key wiring works. Just not getting any spark to the plugs... time to get a voltmeter, and make another bike yard run.. the kickstarter on my cb125 has become smoooth, and bump starting a bike thats running rich isnt much fun..

hey guys finally grabbed a multimeter.. checked out the coils and hopefully im doing it right but.. im getting 12v to the black/white wire going into the coils, just no spark still from the plugs. Does this mean that the coils are toast?

I'm having a similar problem with mine....Not sure if its the coil thats bad or the ground....Is your coil mounted or has it been taken off?

the coils mounted nice and snug, the condensor looked pretty worn so i replaced it with a newer looking one from the box of parts i got. still has me stumped.. been working more on the cb125 lately haha. im thinking its the coil but im not 100%.
