1974 Honda CB360 Garage Find Cafe Build

Forums are our friends....until you get like 12 different answers to the same question. I am about to make a dime city order and two things on the list are the mini speedo and tach. I simply just need to know which ones to order and thought it would be a quick google search and bobs your uncle but NOoooOOOooo. I keep reading different things and get lost in these 5 page rambles about how GearHeadBadAss436179 uses this one and PushRodThunderPoker is all "No way, when my grandmother built mini speedos for the Royal Navy cb360's it was a 31:5 ratio" and then KillJoyHeadBangerMotorWhore (he is on a street bike forum) comes up with a completely different answer....you get my point. Could someone just point to it?

Why not mod your stockers?

This is what I did to mine... ;)

Other wise, the drive on the front wheel MIGHT have the marking for the gear ratio, things change depending on what size front tire you have.

Nice to see your front end on man and its those ones you want! LOL

That "RED" looks a little weird to me....HA LOL SOMETIMES I JUST KILL MYSELF. Really dude it looking top notch. I like it alot.

I like the red,
doing mine 'too red' something like the 1973 MV Augusta (but without the fairings ;) )
I got some red grips and red vinyl for seat ;D

Not a thing wrong with red, especially now since I went ahead and did it! I'm not sure I could ever get up the balls to paint a whole motor in red but it looks good trek. I finally got a chance to mount the seat and WOW was it so much easier than I expected it to be. I started by using my spindle sander to notch out the seat for the shock. I then lined up the seat and used holes already on the frame to drill my holes and drop the bolts in. I used some of those rubber corks to take up the slight gap and ad a little shock absorption. I don't have it pictured here but I am going to use some large diameter washers on the seat. I was really surprised at how solid the seat feels.

If I could follow my taxes into a back alley and beat the hell out of them I would. Just received a call from my tax lady and she informed me that Uncle Sam would be pillaging the motorcycle fund down to the last drop. I'm not sure thats what she said but it is exactly what I heard.

Anyway....Managed to prime the tank and seat this weekend. I had never used bondo before but that stuff is pretty neat. I was quite happy with how the tank turned out. Smooth as a.....really nice tank...I'm at a loss for good analogies following the news that my bank account was about to be violated.

Be sure to give that bondo plenty of time to cure...the more the better. like a week or so. My tank was my first experience w bondo. I did my best but not sure I mixed it absolutely correctly. it shrank a little, maybe over the next week or two. after I got my paint on.
I was a little disappointed. but I was the only one who noticed the little divets, or atleast nobody said they noticed. also after your sure it cures well. a thin coat of the bondo spot putty glaze. will make it even smoother. paint covers it better. I just added the glaze, wet sanded the tank a bit re-coated with paint, stuck my stickers and cleared over everything. Now the spots dont show at all.
Especially if your going with high gloss paint and clear !!! I used the matte finish clear.

First of...nice avatar. It took me like 3 tries to start reading your post.

Secondly.....Oh Fuuuuuuuuuuuudge.....only I didn't say fudge. Well, I wish I would have read this before last night. Too late now.

Barring any disaster from what was posted above by those huge hoots..I mean um Trek....I got wild last night and painted the tank and seat. I am very, very, very pleased with how the paint turned out. I have about 12 light coats on the seat and about 9 on the tank so far. This metal speck paint is great but the coverage is super light compared to a regular paint. It acts really strange when sprayed on. You hit it with a stream and it looks like the metal specks are spinning around, moving to fine just the right place to settle down. This goes on for a good 15-20 seconds and then it starts to calm down. I feel like I have really debunked the idea (for myself at least) that you can not do a great paint job with rattle cans. All in all this tank and seat literally cost me less than $50 in supplies and again I am just flat out excited about how good it looks. The tank pics are not of the final coating. I still have about 2 more to go after the 2 coats I put on this morning about 6:30 am. I'll shut my gob...here are some pics!

Looking, good. I love the seat, especially. Is it the Interceptor seat from Roc City?

It is the interceptor seat. It looked a little big at first but after mocking it up it looks perfect! Now i just have to find the "perfect" tail light.
