This is the first mono shock conversion I have seen on a T500....it looks awesome! You must have spent a lot of time figuring and fabbing this up. I'd love to try this on the t500 project Ihave waiting in the wings...will be watching close.

Re: 1974 t500 cafe build

That is all 1/4 inch plate im not aginst it by no means but 1/4 inch is kinda no joke were gonna brace the frame more with out a dought im still a long ways out on Finished roller

Re: 1974 t500 cafe build

Swivel is correct that the thickness is not where it gets its strength from. If I were doing it, I'd use much thinner steel and remember NOT to put inside the joint. Bracing goes on the outside surface of the tubes.

Try say 1.5mm steel and roll the edges for strength through shape.

Re: 1974 t500 cafe build

Up next is mabie the koolest thing about this bike so far we got sisk of tring to fugure out where the oil tank was going so i said fuck it. Were building the frame to act as A oil tank its gonna be sweet. it will be under the gas tank pretty much the frame back bone, it gonna have a remote fill neck on the top triple there will also be a trap sump so the outlet is never starved for oil when the bike is going up or down hill. haha there so many t500 builds going on right now so im gonna rase the bar alittle haha just kidding

Re: 1974 t500 cafe build

O and the frame will be braced to the moon and back before it sees daylight

that is a great idea. Let me have that oil tank back if you're not going to use it... will save me having to paint the one for my GT500. :-D

Re: 1974 t500 cafe build

Seriously man... When this is done, you need to come to Pittsburgh. We'll swap bikes for a day and tear up some back roads.

There is plenty of room for an oil tank to hide behind the frame bracing for the twin shock mounts under the seat.......oh wait a minute??!!

Well i went to the local bike junkman and swaped him a first gen yz250 for this fzr something who the fuck knows what size haha its gonna surrender its forks and brakes and mabie rear sets to a forty couple year old suzuki. Its wayyyy cheaper to get kool parts this way but you end up with a pile of shit left over o well

Re: 1974 t500 cafe build

Cool build, I'm on board. I need to find one of these to build. It's the big brother to my 74 ts185.

You could take the leftovers back to the junk man.
