Should be picking up frame by the first of next week. I want to get it painted (Im going with black appliance epoxy) and the wheels and tires trued and mounted before I leave for 7 weeks. That's the goal at least. I just want to be riding the damn thing by fall.
Thanks. I couldnt believe both rims were bent when i got the bike. First time I have ever had to buy nrw rims. Saved me from having to paint them black.
I got the frame back today. All media blasted. Started painting kickstands with black appliance epoxy. Im welding on the seat loop tomorrow.
Last pic is another inspiration bike I think is just badass! I may have to ditch the bates style headlight I was going to run. Not sure yet. Need to figure out mounting options.
Ground down some plugs to fit. Welding loop on tomorrow.
I think this will be about it until I get back from training. It will be butt ass hot by the time I get to finish things up. Stock carbs are shot, going to go with VM32's.
Re: 1974 Yamaha TX-500- Loop on and frame painted.
Loop is on, frame is painted. The last two builds I powdered the frames. I actually like this appliance epoxy. I used it on my XL250 build in the SS color. Turned out nice.
Also new bearings in the stem and put the forks on with new seals/dust covers and fresh paint.
OK, just got out of the 7 week long Corrections Academy and started working on the bike again. Just got the wheels trued and tires mounted and put on the bike. The tires are wider than I expected but look like they fit fine.
Picking up a 2002 Triumph Tiger on Sunday so I will have a good bike to ride while working on others.....damn excited about it.
