1975 CB400F Project "Replacement Girlfriend"

Enjoyed for about 20 minutes. Then grabbed front brake and hit some gravel. Got some reeeeally nice skinless areas.

Picked up a cb125 tonight and talked my mom into riding it since she was at my house. So of course I'm right behind her when I eat it, so she turns around to see and then runs off the road.
Currently at the emergency room for her wrist.
Fuck my life. Worlds worst son anyone?

World's worst son would be at the bar instead. This will be hilarious in, say, ten years.

Hope all's well with you both.

Shoulda gone down on the girlfriend instead. I can't help myself.

HAHA
Nice.

And no it's pretty funny already I keep replaying it in my head and its hilarious.
I look like I was l dragged by a car over gravel.
Always wear your gear. Even if you're just going down the road laughing at your mother on the 125.

Only permanent damage to the bike

This little gem took the brunt of it. Added to the wall of broken 400f parts

And a bit if road rash.
Tomorrow morning should be fun. My knee is the size of a grapefruit, my hands fractured, and I have to work all day. Fun!

All in all though not too bad, moms hand wasn't broken so that's good, just a real Nasty bruise.

Glad you're okay man. Hope we see you in KY so we can tease you incessantly.

I'm with Richard on the teasing part. The one guy I won't tease is the guy who holds the worlds record for the fastest get off and walked away. At B'ville a few years back a guy hit a piece of debris left from a car on the previous run and got pitched off his Busa at 230+mph and walked away from it. Ended up in the hospital with moderate injuries but able to walk away. I think his record will stand for some time as I don't know anyone looking to break it. :)

A new stator cover is $43 from Honda, your life is worth more than that.

Ha! I wonder what it's like to hit literally the only debris for miles.

Yup I'm glad to walk away from it.
It's becoming a trend. Finish a bike then promptly lay it over. On the same road no less. Fucking gravel.

I found a patch the other night on a highway on-ramp. First time drifting for me, definitely tested out my sphincter.

Damn...I just read this and kinda laughed at the situation and then was glad you and your mom are ok. Gravel sucks! Bikes are rebuildable, a life isn't. Stay safe brother.

Gravel certainly does suck. My hand has not gotten better, still cant ride as the twisting motion of the throttle results in unbearable pain.

On the plus/minus side I found the issue with the front end....

That is in fact quite the crack in the upper triple. Bad news bears there.
I'd really like to upgrade the front end, maybe some USD forks...maybe if I can find some on CL.

Man that's a pisser, both your hand and the triple tree. They're both pretty fragile. Hope the hand heals up soon.

If only I could go on eBay and find a replacement hand and be 100% again ;)

Started putting it back together only to notice (how the fuck did i miss that) that one of my fork tubes is thoroughly bent.
Shit, more parts to buy.

I found the stock tubes to be pretty weak myself. I went through a couple tubes to get a pair of straight ones for the front end on mine.

The Ninja 250 forks are an interesting idea.
