i have a 1975 cb750 i'm having trouble selling... i don't think i'm asking too much ($1500.00) the bike runs good and cosmeticly is pretty nice... i'm starting to think that i should bring it back to original though... have it slightly cafed now with clubmans, led lights all around and cast aluminum side covers.... my question is would i have an easier time selling it if it was more original?

I'd say yes, you'd probably get more money if it were original. Of course, the question is do you have all the original parts? The original exhaust system would bring big money, as would a nice original tank, seat, etc. So it would also depend on whether you'd have to spend a bunch of money to get it back to original, and then lose money in the process?

As well, where are you advertising the bike? Have you tried the classifieds in the VJMC magazine? Or Walneck's?

I had the opportunity to ride my friend's very original 1972 CB750 last weekend. What a magical bike, even in a totally stock setup.

Mate, here in australia for a clean restored one of those you can add an extra zero. Yep, a restored 750 can get up to 15 grand.

Hmmm....for a '75? For a fully restored K0 or certainly a Sandcast, $15,000 would definitely be doable (Sandcasts could probably bring upwards of $25,000). Don't know about a later one being worth that much, though I'm certainly not any kind of expert in the CB750 realm. But I'm pretty sure that the earlier ones would be more desirable to a collector than a '75, though a '75 is certainly a nice bike.

Of course, to even get to that level of value, that bike would have to be perfectly restored -- proper bolts, screws, plating, grips, down to the last detail. Plus, perfect paint and everything else that goes along with it. These VJMC guys go crazy over this stuff.

I don't think that a cafe'd 750 for $1500 is unreasonable -- as I mentioned earlier, maybe you might just need to find another outlet to sell it that would attract that kind of buyer. Let's see a photo of it!

I would have agreed with your $25,000 sandcast price until this just happened....
