I just picked up this bike in December for $350!!! It was in running condition and all the electronics work. I have been thinking of a cafe project for years and also have a 72 cb350 in the garage. I like the frame on the 360 so I chose to start with the '75. Pete's (Lucky 7even!) bike has been my inspiration. Hopefully mine will be 1/2 as nice. Let me know what you think. I will keep this up to date as I can. Right now tear down is done as is de-tabbing so I am starting on frame, paint, tires, brakes, etc. The engine will be last. Hopefully it will just need to be cleaned up. It ran decent, needed some carb adjustments before I tore it down. Laters for now.
That is my electrolysis set up (large steel bar) hanging from the ceiling. My other bikes are in there too, 2005 CRF 450x, 2003 KTM 200 and my wifes 2000 xr 100. Here is the '72 as well. Cheers.
Not much time to throw up pics but here are a few. I got the frame to my welder as I wanted to cut off the center stand tabs. When I did so I had to take it down to the butt joints so it needed to be welded up. I have been stripping a few parts and pieces. Aircraft stripper is working ok but I am ending up taking a brass wire wheel to it to get it finished. Starting to think of color options and seat configurations... I think Im going to go with a red frame? Black and silver for the tank and seat and flat black for rims and misc parts... Both front forks were blown out as were the rears. I am going to purchase new rear shocks and springs (any suggestions would be helpful) and rebuild the fronts. Are guys still throwing atf in the fronts or does someone have a suggestion for front fork oil? Thanks.
Its been awhile. I stopped working on the bike until I got the title worked out. Colorado has made it a bitch!!! Finally got the paperwork thru and have the title in hand so work started again. Got the frame stripped, some new rear shocks, roc city clip ons, rebuilt the front forks and chopped a little more off the back of the frame. Waiting for a seat. Not sure if I have the skills to build one or if im gonna buy one??? Wiring has started to hit my mind so if anyone has a good link or knows the best way give me a shout. Still thinking of paint options as well. Rear sets are likely my next purchase along with a small gel battery. Not sure if Im gonna keep the elec starter either? Sorry to ramble. Check out the pics.
