hey guys so heres my dilemma, i went riding yesterday, and got about 70 miles away, and stopped to get gas and my bike was completely dead when i tied to start it back up. so i looked, and my main fuse had fallen out. so i slapped another one in an bueno. problem is, no it will not shut off with the switch. i have to take the fuse back out. any ideas? wirings nice all over the bike and hasnt really been tampered with very much. thanks for any help. its my daily rider so u can imagine this is a huge pain.

The engine stop switch may not be disconnecting. I believe it actually runs to the ignition coils.

Check the wiring diagram, but I believe its a black and white cable.
If you disconnect it, and its stops, that might help confirm.

so i checked that, and the switch stops the engine, but nothing will turn off the electrical short of taking out the fuse. i even disconnected the ignition switch and electrical still doesnt shut off? any more help?

The switch only kills the engine.
The key kills the electrical.

Of course if you are turning the key to park instead of off, you brake light will remain on.

If you disconnected the ignition switch (the key) everything should go off. Inside the switch, red from the battery provides power to the black, brown, and brown with white tracer. Black is coil and ignition power, brown is tail light, and brown/white is your gauges. You may just have a bad switch. See if you can grab a spare for cheap to test it. You are turning the key forward right? Backward is the "park" setting. My apologies if I'm stating the obvious here.

so i figured out the fuse fell out and when i replaced it, put one too many fuses in and that did it. stpid and kinda comical at the same time. thanks for all your help fellas
