1975 Honda CL360 build

I have been a lurker here the last few months so I finally wanted to share my progress on my first cafe racer build with my 1975 Honda CL360. I picked up this bike back in November and rode it around for a few weeks before tearing it apart. Here is what it looked like at the time of purchase:

I have only been able to work on it during the weekends so the tear down and clean up took many weeks. Finally after it started warming up a bit in the north east I was able to start painting in March and just this past weekend I was able to start putting everything back together.

Here are some pictures of the interesting stuff I have done over the past few weeks. I realize everything I have done may not have been the correct/perfect way to get it done but for my first project I was just looking for something obtainable and that looked like what I had pictured in my mind. I am hoping to get the engine and wiring back into the bike next weekend and I still need to paint the tank. Let me know what you guys think. I think I am going to have to change the license plate mount to somewhere else as it is pretty close to the tire. I should have more pictures to upload in the coming weeks.

Thanks. You can actually see the mounts in a few of the pictures but what I did was cut off the old mount, bracket, and lock and weld two risers that the seat mount on. On the underside of the seat I riveted two steel plates with nuts welded in the correct locations so the seat could easily bolt to the frame. I lost the ability to quickly remove the seat but I think this should work fine.

Got the engine put back into the bike, started running the wiring and painted the tank. Starting to come together now.

Finished painting the tank today and I also got started with the wiring, throttle cables and clutch cables. Throttle and clutch is all back together now after a little work sanding the bars to make them not stick and the wiring is done enough to make the bike start but I still have to get all the lights next weekend.
