First post on this site, my brother directed me here as he has a couple build threads going on also. My Projected started 2 Years ago while searching for an airhead. I found a clean R90/6 in Chicago and made the drive to pick it up.
Snapped this pictures before loading it up on the truck to bring her home.
unloaded it at my fathers shop.
Tore it down the first weekend.
Did Some sandblasting to clean off years of use.
The motor was really dirty as it sat
I took a wire brush and carb cleaner to the entire shell of the motor to get a nice clean surface, I decided I wanted to do something a little different so I sprayed the entire engine black.
Sanded down the fins
Started putting the motor back in
Old exhaust pipes were rusted out so replaced them
New Exhaust next to old rusted out one.
Ended up using an extra set of Harley Sportster shocks that my dad has laying around in his shop
Parts Mocked up
Color change was in order
Chose a 60's Porsche Color called Light Ivory
All put back together the bike ended up with the final restore looking like this
I rode the bike for 1.5 years like that. Then for this winter I need to make some changes. Last night I installed a set of low bars and nixed the large factory mirrors.
That is as far as I got last night. I will update this thread with more pictures as progress continues. I wont be doing any chopping to the frame, and any thing I change on the bike will be reversible. But I will be making many updates on this over the next few months. Hope you enjoy.
