Been Around the Block
This project has been 3 years in the making... I bought the bike 3 years ago when I had too much time money and bikes for my own good... To be young and irresponcible ;D I bought the bike as running bike with lots of electrical issues for $600.00 with a title... I got it home stablized the tank and squireled it away in my parents shed... Over the years I purchased some parts for it but never got around to playing until saturday when after a fight with my girl friend I said F it! I bought a Battery charged it and worked through the nest of wires...

Here are some picture of the bike when I first pulled it out of the shed...

Got some more work done yesterday... i drilled the seat and put it on for a fitting def isn't going to be big enough for me and my girlfriend... looks good though... anyone have an extra stock cb750 seat laying around? i also called steve carpenter about the clipons... nicest guy ever!!! he told me exactly what to do... aparently i have to drill a hole in the fork cap bolt and put another bolt though it to install them... i'll get to that soon... i also attached the clutch cable and throttle cables... the starter button isn't working now... i'm guessing its a ground somewhere in the switch??? here are some pictures of the progress so far...

Something to check on your starter button that happened to me: in the clamshell assembly where it bolts together on the bars, the yellow/red stripe wire is notorious for coming un-soldered from the button. Took me a while to figure that out, and that was after doing a lot of fitting with my clipons and old handlebars. And yeah, Carpy is proba ly the nicest guy I've ever met too. Good luck, and looks great so far!

thanks! i'm gonna have have to take a look... i have a feeling its something really silly like that... i think im going to get some new cables (throttle and clutch)... either that or lube them up... they area little sticky... is ebay the best place?

If you are keeping stock controls, then it might be best to bite it and get them from a honda dealer or from an online source like bikebandit or any of the parts houses. I've ordered "correct parts" on ebay of things that looked like what what I had only to get a clutch cable that was a foot longer than what I needed. No idea what it fit, but it wasn't right, and the seller was a douche.

i've had some bad ebay experiences myself... had some time this weekend between beers to figure out my clip ons i drilled out a hole in my fork tube caps and welded in a bolt... after re installing the forward handle bar controls the start button still didn't work... i took it apart and could see anything wrong with it... all the conections were conected and look good... i also ended up snaping one of the cables so i'm definatly going to need cables... good news is the clip ons are on and look great!!! after i cleaned up all the tools and i was half way back to my apartment i had an after thought as to why the starter button wasn't working... blown fuse maybe???? could it be that silly??? i'll have to check it out next time i get over to my parents house to work on it... here are some picture in the mean time...

JUST A LITTLE UP DATE... THROTTLE CABLES AND CLUTCH CABLE CAME IN THE MAIL TODAY... I SOLD SOME OLD CB350 PARTS TO FUND THAT AND A TAIL LIGHT I ORDERED OFF EBAY... I SHOULD BE SEEING THE TAIL LIGHT IN A WEEK OR SO... NOW I JUST HAVE TO FIND SOME TIME TO INSTALL AND DO BODY WORK AND PAINT... UGGGGGGGGGGGGH! ::)

FOUND SOME TIME LAST NITE TO GET THE CABLES ON... STILL NO LUCK WITH THE STARTER BUTTON... IT WORKED AND NOW IT DOESN'T... NOW THE CHARGING ISSUE I THOUGHT WAS RESOLVED IS BACK... I CHARGED THE BATTERY AND KICKED IT OVER AND IT RAN GREAT FOR A BIT... I WAS SO EXCITED I BUZZED UP AND DOWN THE DRIVE WAY FOR A BIT.... I THINK I'M JUST GONNA WIRE UP A TOGGLE SWITCH TO START IT... NEW RECTIFER OFF EBAY OR IF SOMEON HAS A GOOD USED ONE PLEASE LET ME KNOW... I STARTED FIXING THE CRACKED SIDE COVERS WITH SOME PLASTIC EPOXY AS WELL... ITS A LITTLE SLOW AT WORK SO IF I HAVE TIME I'M GOING TO DO SOME BODY WORK ON THEM AFTER THE EPOXY CURES....
