1976 kz 400 first cafe build...indiana newbie

just started my first cafe build...a 1976 kz400 i picked up on craigslist.
have yet to decide on a color and i have even considered leaving it 70's for now...i kinda like the retro look.
i will post a series of pictures to date.

Nice job so far. Did you build that seat pan yourself? Great job if you did. I like the original color to. Are you painting the frame black?
 
Nice bike... Nice to see another Hoosier on here.. Our numbers are growing. ;D

thanks for the props... no I bought the seat pan off eBay.
I plan on painting the frame black and I still need to buff the side covers on the motor.
not sure yet what I am going to do with the paint.
I have a single carb intake on the way and a cr125 carb to put on.
all this stuff is new to me... but the only way to learn is to just do it.
 
Yeah, you have a really nice foundation to work from. and that seat pan looks great on that bike.

this is where it stands today...just got the seat pan painted also and need to install the new dual carb setup and make a seat cover.

thanks man...don't know what i am doing but it seems to be working out ok.
you just don't know until you try.
 
Nice bike but I wouldn't call it a "cafe racer" per se. It simply has too much of the stock look be that.
