1976 RD400 Project

Hi all, I'm back after having completed both of my Kettle Projects (one resto and one lightly customized). I picked a up 1976 Yam RD400 a couple of weeks ago. Mostly complete and a runner, but will need a topend rebuild. My plan is to customize this baby with Spec II chambers, K&N Air Filter with Y-Boot, Carb X-Over, Moto Carrera Laguna seat and a fresh paint job. I'd like to keep the stock wheels but I'm looking into fitting a box-section swingarm. I can get a nice aluminium one for about $600 but I'm also curious if anyone knows what other stock box-section swingers would just slot in. Not looking to lengthen the wheelbase, just keep it to 17.5 inches (center of pivot to center chain adjust mark). Any info on plug-and-play swingarms welcome!

Looks like you have a good starting point and I'm really digging those pipes. Von and Bradj should be able to give you some insight on swingarm alterations for the RD. There are a few other RD gurus here and it looks like there are more and more smokers here also.

Thanks! I appreciate the feedback. By the way, forgot to mention it "Did The Ton" at the track. I saw 110 MPH on the speedo right before I had to start braking for Turn 1 at NCBike.
