1976 Yamaha RD400

Trying to remember through the haze and years. I seem to remember reeds in the intake. If they were dirty or bad, that would kill the low end.

Thanks for the heads up on that Jones, when I'd originally removed the carbs for cleaning that was one of the first things I looked at. It's a bit awkward getting a straight on view but all 4 reeds on both sides appear to flex ok, and seat fully closed.

Well there's something to be said for completely stripping a bike and starting from scratch. ( I have not done that here )

Took me the better part of a week of spare time poking around with a multimeter to isolate the disconnection preventing the tail light from working. A connector had parted ways inside the loom in an un obvious spot. Happy to say tail light is working, even flares up from either front OR back brake activation.

Still not much progress on the signal lights ( zero working ) . So far I can confirm good ground to all 4, and fresh and working bulbs in all four. The signal light relay audibly clicks when engaging either side, and the fuse tests ok for continuity.

And oh yeah the horn works haha. Makes this incredibly lame "meep meep" sound.

Just the signal lights to go and this thing is ready for a safety.

I'm no electron/proton expert, but 3 different relays and a LOT of trial and error wire swapping, finally have working signal lights.

Now on to tuning a steady idle with this thing for the safety.
