living life one cafe at a time
hi everybody,

i have been on this forum for a long time as a reader never a poster, i have been building my cafe racer little by little. I will try to get some pictures up today, but i just wanted to say how much help this site has been. i have pulled the engine, cut off all unused brackets from the frame, aquired a set of rearsets and began to make mounting plates. i will try to get pictures up because i know how we all feed of the progress pics.

Hey guys... this thread looks a little dead.. so I thought I'd inject a bit of cannon fodder to bring back some punters ;)

I picked up a 1976 XS750 in March for $300... has the typical XS750 probs... fuel ran thru the ports and trickled into sump.... if you're unfamiliar with this prob let me know.. will fill you in.. in the meantime.. here's some pics.

Haven't gotten much work done yet though.. .still working on Rasputin.. but here it goes:
What I bought for $300:

Swapped in a RGV250 USD front end BUT it has been rebored and rebuilt with R6 internals

What do you mean by - " BUT it has been rebored and rebuilt with R6 internals" the engine?
Hey Jim ;) Nah mate... LOL.. the RGV250 Up.Side.Down front end (front forks) have been bored out to accomodate the bigger, stronger Yamaha R6 internals... springs, plunger etc... this was off an RGV race bike... I wanted an upside down front end for better handling.. the RGV head stem swaps straight in with the XS750... but the stock rgv250 forks wouldn't ever support the weight of something like the XS750.. so R6 internals does the job nicely 8)

Okay, I'm in. The XS650s have been getting a lot of play the past few years and I would really like to see something good done with a 750 triple.

oily looks awesome matey, well done on the progress so far.
check out my xs850 build below.
all the best Mark.
