killin brain cells daily
Hey yall,

considering selling my little baby (don't tell her). Currently working on the '70 Bonneville project, and thought I might move the CB to a good home. I am posting this to see if there is any interest in selling her. I will post more details later with pics if there is interest, so please respond to lemme know...

here's some details

1977 CB200t
approx 1600 original miles
all original parts
kick and electric start
I do ride this bike, usually just to gym or other little errands
I have all the ORIGINAL sales receipts from when it was bought from McBride's cycle and the original owner's manual!
receipt says its a 1975, but its titled as a 1977 for some reason... why? ur guess is as good as mine

here's the story of how i got it...

built a garage for a guy and this little baby was under a tarp... so i peeked. I told him that if he was ever interested in sellin her to call me. He hadn't ridden in about a year. the next summer he called me to tell me he was moving to a condo with no garage space for it, and to make an offer.. I bought it from him and trailered home. Removed the carbs, full cleaning, cleaned out the old gas, oil change etc.. bought a new battery and BOOM, she started..

some carb tuning since then and she runs well.

tank has a couple rust spots in the paint but everything else seems pretty solid.
right muffler had a rust hole in it, which i had a friend badly patch with his hobby welder.. i didn't care cuz i was gonna redo the exhaust.. but i didn't.

I bought a second original seat pan when I thought I might cafe her up, but never got to it so i'll throw that in so you can have a cafe seat and an original seat if you wanna take passengers for a ride.

anyhoo.. lemme know what y'all think, and i might release my grip on her

pretty positive i can get $600 for her without too much hassle. I am only looking to fund the bonnie project.

I never got it onto ebay this weekend, was way too busy enjoying good weather, bbq and outdoor bevvies.

p.s. you want the clubbies, you take the bike, you can have them.. however.. there is another poster who has a silver 200 like mine who put clubs on it, you have to modify either the controls or the clubs for the 200 since some cables run in the stock handlebars..

By the way, this bike is a 1975, not a 1977.

yeah.. i am fully aware its a 75, its listed on the title as a 77, so I posted it this way. The badge on it says 75 and so does the original sales reciept. But I didn't want to mislead anyone.

i think i mentioned the confusion in the original post somewhere in the 3rd or 4th paragraph... i have no idea why its listed as a 77, but it was sold to me that way, so i kept it that way..

i'd love if someone could shed some light on it for me. Someone told me that it might have been made in 75, but sold in CAnada in 77, so it was titled that way... but i am not an authority on that..

Possible reason for the title/date confusion:

Honda didn't use model years until 1976 - I think the federal legislation that, among other things, forced Triumph to go to Japanese style foot controls had something to do with it. So if you go looking on the Honda parts fiche (I work for a Honda dealer) for stuff for your 1975 CB400F, you have to look under CB400F0. It won't be listed by model year.

I have a funny feeling that CB200T sat in the dealer's showroom for two years before finally finding a buyer. It was a common occurrance for the dealer to title the bike according to the date he actually sold it, not the production model year. Another reason the feds stepped in, no doubt.

yeah its weird.. i have registrations for 77,78,80 and a few others kikin around this bike.. damned if i can find em all right now tho.

*actually* just found one of the original owners motorcycle driving test results.. kinda faded, but neat.

now, where did I put my keys...............

Sadly, I have to say...

Rockabillyroller came by and adopted my little CB... so it is no longer for sale. <sniff sniff>

Someone cue up Sarah McLaughlin's "I will remember you"

have fun at your new home CB... be good to RBR... I'll miss you... come visit on thursdays at Tims

Now the pressure is really on Ton-Up bikes to get the Bonnie rollin, me with my empty nest syndrome and all..

Sammo

thanks to all who were interested..

Sam, thanks again buddy. Excited as hell to get riding this season! Will definitely be bringing the bike out to Tims once I get everything set up!

Hey y'all,

Rockabillyroller came by today to pick up the CB200..

some drama ensued!

Rolled it out, all nicey nice.. kicked her over.. and a lackluster idle and piss poor performance! OH NO! Shame shame shame came over me... what could have gone wrong?! The last time i rode her was Sept of '08, but she ran like a champ. I tuned and test rode, tuned again..

Noticed that I was only getting ignition on the left cylinder.. so I though bad plug.. pulled it, NOPE, looked good.. grabbed the plug wire and YOOOW! Nope, she's getting spark (ouch). Opened the carb.. no gas. Quick cleanup with carb cleaner.. pulled the fuel lines, opened the bowl, pulled the cylinder, sprayed it all and BOOM, fuel runnin thru freeeeely.

Kicked her back over again, quick tune, and I almost wheelied outta my driveway... that's the power I remember!!!!

Congrats RBR!!!! Enjoy my, er, your new little baby! I'm happy she's in good hands. Lookout East End Boys, we got a new kid in town!

Cheers,

Sammo
