looks sweet!
what did you end up doing for jetting?

Havent done anything yet. It runs great up top and is a little sluggish on the bottom. I have been doing some research on jetting etc and will post when i get it sorted.

Hey pilgrim your bike is looking great!!! I been working on a 78 gs750 myself and have been looking for good examples for inspiration and yours sir is really cool!! I do wonder about your speedo, is it still mechanically driven from the hub or is it a new setup altogether? I ordered a new Koso gauge and it comes with a speed sensor but it uses magnets to give it its signal as they move past the sensor. My issue is that our brake rotors don't really have anywhere to install them and am not sure how to remedy the situation, converter maybe or passive sensor? Anyway good work!

Appreciate the comments. The speedo is a cheap mechanical unit, its in kilometers which is hard to convert without a calculator. I had thought about a digital one but dont feel like dealing with all the wiring. I have a bad case of lazyitis.

Looks great Pilgrim, Definitely the type of look I'd like to go for on my next one...stripped down, lean and mean.

Thanks man. I appreciate it. Pickin up my next project tomorrow 78 cb750

Looks sharp man. Sounds great too.

What'd those shocks run you, my GS could use another set but I'm trying to save money on that proj since I dumped far too much into the CB.

Shocks were right at a $100. As far as the cb im thinking of a scrambler type with some mild knobbies. Maybe something like this

Right on. Hard to build scrambler pipes with a four cylinder though ;)

Check out Shinko 705s. Pretty killer dual sport tire. Definitely more street than trail but a good tire at a great price.

I was specifically thinking of the 705's. I have an idea on the pipes that will require quite a bit if welding

I had a tough time finding 705s in any useable sizes (without a wheel swap). CB looks fun

Well just a little update. I decided against building another bike but have decided to tear the 77 down to the frame and build it back with good quality components and alot more attention to detail. I have already sourced an 87 gsxr front end, i have a line on wheels and a swing arm as well. As i get into it ill update as often as i can but my plan ist to be riding by march of next year.

Little update. Work has been busy and with the holidays no time to work on my scooter

Today i built a bike stand. Took off the old front end and mocked up the gsxr front end.

Looks great! I am amazed that you have not run into jetting issues, as I always hear that modifications such as pods and 4-1 exhaust cause a big difference.

Im digging into a GS550E myself. I was just about to throw on some clip-ons sitting in my living room. Did you run into any clearance issues with your stock forks? Or any advice for things that you thought were going to work during your build, but ended up failing and forcing you to substitute?
