Hello DTT members and guests. I was informed to begin my build process here from a senior member. I suppose this is where I will show my progress as well as ask upon members to give their input to questions or issues that may arise. So far there is a link to the member introduction forum that I posted in upon becoming a member here http://www.dotheton.com/forum/index.php?topic=67629.0. I have purchased some tools as well as gumout carb cleaner. here are some pics of the bike as well as some extra bits that came with the bike. So far I am unsure of a lot of the extra bits including the extra handle bars as well as most of the stuff on the "bench."

Re: !977 Honda CB550

Opps, sorry about posting my dog in there twice. Figured I'd include him in this thread as he loves hanging out with me in the garage.

Looks like a great start (and a great dog) - I'm going to move this into the Cafe Racer section under Projects - this is the 'help' board where people ask/answer questions.

550 is one of my faves - I had a 500 and the 550 as my first bikes. Looking forward to seeing this one progress.

Thanks for redirecting this to a more proper sub. Anyone who has info on any of the parts that are pictured would be greatly appreciated. I can take more detailed photos of anything that may help identify any of the parts.

My plan is to maybe dive into the partial carburetor that is pictured. It's definitely missing something, not sure what. The extra carb came with a bunch of other goodies, it did not come off the bike. I think that taking this one apart, cleaning it and putting it back together might be a good way to get some experience before diving into the one that is on the actual bike. One last thing, I'm not sure if this carb is even for this bike. Anyone know if there's a way to tell?

As always thanks in advance.

Will be following this build until the end, sorry don't know about the carbs but I'm guessing someone will:) you have a nice bike there will be interesting to see what you do to it. Always admired the cb's!! Oh and nice dog hehe;)

This will be a slow build. I work a lot and it's a bit of a double edge sword with my many interests and hobbies. But I will be updating and posting pics as things progress. Thanks for following.
