I bought this bike at the end of last summer. It only has 4700 mile and it runs stong.

I cut the back end off and welded a sissy bar from another bike to make the new from for the seat. I have been breaking it down and learning how everything works as this is my first bike. I'm hoping to get the new oil tank and back fender on this weekend.

I hate to say it, but I too would have left that one alone. If anything, bought a different seat and shaved it down.

But what's done is done. That curved bar looks a little awkward and long--and tall. Can you reshape it?

I made a thing for my speedo out of diamond aluminum. I'm not sure if i like it yet. I also have everything grinded off the back end to make room for a round oil tank and the battery box which has to be lower now because the new seat will be lower.

Its not really. It will be tight with two ppl on. The wheel is hanging down becasue the shocks are not connected makeing the curve look long and tall.
When i first saw your RD400 i fell in love with cafe racers. I knew that a friend of mine had one sitting in his garage so i bought it.

I finaly got the oil tank and batter box attached an i put the key ignition on the side of the bike. I also have it all stripped down ready to sand blast.

Update on Build. It is mostly done all repainted and put back together. I just need to finish up the wiring and tune it up.
