1977 XS750 - Project Maggie Mae

Looking good. Have you decided on a style of seat? I have an 81 XS650 and am having difficulty finding a seat? Keep the pics coming....

I have been scanning the net trying to find a seat too, but anything I like doesn't seem like it will fit properly. I also want to do as much of this build on my own, so I think I am just going to make one myself.

Thanks, Joe. It's all about the details. Need to move on to other stuff or I'll never finish. ;D

Hey sorry I havent gotten with you on your guages. I have been swamped with overtime and my back is killing me. hopefully this coming week on my day off I'll take your images in. Your polish work looks awesome.

No problem. Gettin' healed up is more important. Let me know when you can.

Okay, haven't updated in a while, but there hasn't been much to update. Gonna try and get some work done on my spare motor this weekend. Received a cylinder (mangled a couple fins trying to get it off) and a gasket set along with a new set of shocks. We'll see what I can get done since the weather is supposed to be bad all weekend (cold and rainy). Hopefully I'll have more to update unless the blahs get me again.

Okay, haven't fallen off the face of the earth, but haven't posted any updates in well . . . a couple of years. Why? Work, life, deployment all played factors. Not much has been done, but I should be able to post a couple of changes within the week.

Okay, just a couple of pics of what has been done lately. Only the frame has been painted everything else is just primered. Shocks and clubmans are new. Wheels are getting ready to go off to powdercoat. The seat took 3 attempts to get right as the first 2 were miserable failures. My first time with fiberglass so definitely a good learning process.

soon it will start to look like a bike!
what you going to do on the rotor?

Would like to get them drilled, but can't do it myself and not sure I want to pay what it would cost to have them done. Places I have checked want about $300 to do it.

I am going to drill the wings next week... ill let you know how it goes, never done it before... may be able to help you out on that one bud

Okay, so a bit of an update. Think the last significant thing was my attempt at a cafe seat - took 3 attempts to get something decent. In the end I sent it out for upholstering which took a while (whole separate story). Couple shots of what came back - think it turned out pretty good.

Next up were the wheels done by our very own JRK892. Outstanding job. Stayed close to the stock wheel color, but different scheme. First, pic is before.

Didn't get any good pics of the overall look, but this should kind of show where she stands. More pics when I get the chance.
