My 78 CB750F, few mods. GL1000 front end, boxed extended swing arm, alloy rims, CBR rear sets, bunch of other stuff done to it.

Re: First build

It was a race tank from the 70's made by a company called REG Moldings in Orange County Ca. I found it on ebay, it was pretty beat up when I got it. I had to put about a half can of kitty hair and a half can of bondo on it to straighten. I liked it cause it had a Dunstall sort of look to it.

Re: First build

Nice! I haven't seen a tank like that in a lot of years. Really gives it a different, unique look.
I noticed the CA license plate - where're you located?

Re: First build

So.... this may be a long shot, but any pics of that red head holding the cell phone in the background??? ;)

Re: First build

Thanks! The headlight is Kawasaki I think, Got it and the tribar on Ebay cause I wanted a chrome bucket and the price was right. I'm located in San Diego, decent cafe / vintage bike crowd here.

Re: First build

Real nice. The tank is tits, and the black on black makes it menacing.

Re: First build

It was extended about 2.5in, the lower shock mount was also pushed back in the extension. Kind of helped to lower the bike a bit.

Re: First build

Thanks, the seat is for a Kawasaki H2. It's covered with foam from the headrest of a TR6 and scrap peice vinyl.

Thanks, I've noticed when I'm out on a ride that it gets a love/hate reaction. It definitely has a look of it's own. Probably what helped win two "best of" trophies among a sea of Harlys at some local shows.

Great looking and unique bike. That tank looks a bit like my old Z1R - kinda coffin shaped, to be frank, LOL. My only comment would be, how about flatter side panels, as they're all curved while the rest of the bodywork is slab-sided and square?

I've was kicking around some ideas for the sides, couldn't really decide on how I should do it. (Got impatient) and cleaned up a set of original K model side covers and used them cause they wouldn't look bad.

Unfortunetly here in a month or two the bike is getting torn back down cause I holed a piston last month. So the side covers are one of the things I was planing to tackle, along with mounting my Rickman full faring, and a few other little things I want to do to it.

That's the fairing on the bike while I was mocking up the body work. I took it off when I installed the GL1000 front end, because i didn't want to modify the faring to make it fit.

I haven't looked at this picture in a long time. The extended swing arm on the finished bike really gives it a different look, much beefier looking with it being boxed, and the stock forks on the unfinished version are pretty spindly looking.
