1978 Goldwing Cafe Racer project

Ya hey, sorry I missed you. I dropped the bike off thursday night and then took off to enjoy the sights of Idaho, came back to the show sunday afternoon to find a nice surprise!
Well I am sorry we didn't meet up but Idaho should have been beautiful this time of year. Next show for sure, Peter

I can't believe it but I think I have been converted to a Goldwing lover.... never thought I would say that. These bikes and the great history I learned about the early ones from this and a few other threads makes me want to go find one.

Are the early models difficult to find?

Not too hard. I picked up a sad '78 with a '75 motor for $400 last year. Still have over a year left to finish it. Lots of parts available. Miles mean little on them. Be ready for patient carb work. 4 carbs with 7 jets each. 1000cc in six cylinders may not sound racy, but torque is there for a lot of revs.

Ahhh and the 1000's are a thing of beauty... but I am partial to the 1100!
Cmon over to the darkside Holly Roller, you won't regret it

My daily rider right now is a naked 1980 GL1100

I'll be keeping my eye on this forum. Once my Cm400 is finished I will likely Cafe my wing too :D

Well every song has to end and I am sorry to say I am going to bring this project to an end. There are too many issues with this bike that are beyond my abilities but I did learn a lesson: buy a bike that runs. So here is the replacement for my Goldwing dream bike,

On to the next bike yes it does run. http://www.dotheton.com/forum/index.php?topic=59487.new#new
