1978 Honda CB 125 Single dustbin build

Re: New project: 1978 CB 125 cafe *BUCKET*

***EDIT*** Made my decision, Going LeMans Porsche style.

Trying to get an idea of color scheme. I'd like to keep it basic. 2 or 3 colors max. Considering semigloss black wheels and spokes. It would make the bike very tough looking. Also keeping in mind the whole "racing" aspect of the bike, it should have an eye catching scheme, right? I'm a lover of old classic race cars. I went through my postcard collection and pulled a few classic race cars with schemes I like. Let me know what you think about them.

#1:
Steve Fucking McQueen LeMans Porsche.
baby blue, black, and tangerine.
How I would interpret scheme:
semi gloss black wheels and spokes. Baby blue frame, seat, and tank with tangerine orange embellishments and black pin stripe. This paint scheme would transfer very well to a dustbin fairing, tank, and seat.

The main ideas I'm toying with are frame color vs. body colors and wheel color. I feel like gold wheels and spokes might be a bit ghetto. Semi gloss black wheels and spokes look pretty sinister.

Well, in trying to break open this engine case, I made a little trip to Sears for a few bits. They were having a big sale and I came back with a little more than expected:

Also, engine cases are a mother. I have the worst luck with old screws. Slung the head off my cheap hammer and had to buy a new ball peen for my impact driver to crack these covers. Ran out of light and it will have to wait until tomorrow.

Also, I have a Clymer manual coming in the mail sometime this week.

I am interesting in your spare exhust, how much do you want for it?

Oops, sorry I missed this. Tell you what, You cover shipping and it's yours. How does that sound? It can't be anymore than $10 or $12. PM me your address and I'll check on shipping and get it mailed to you by Friday.

Tank arrived! I'll have to fab some mounts, but it looks great! Sits quite low on the frame at the moment. This thing is looking more like a Happy Meal Transformer toy. Remember those?

Well a wild water filled week kept me from making any progress. I cracked most of the bolts from the engine but I have 5 stripped ones to pull tomorrow. Looking forward to pounding on this thing. We're moving in 2 weeks, so that will add even more delay. I'm in no rush. I'll be happy if this thing is ready by next April. I'm gonna go step by step and not get myself in a big parts fiasco. I'll buy up parts as I need them rather than all at once.

Order of operations:
-Pull apart motor, bag parts
*-order piston, rings, gaskets, bolt kit
*-powder coat frame and wheels
-order fairing
-paint tank, seat, fairing
-rebuild brakes
-rebuild front end
-mount shocks
-lace up wheels
-order & mount tires
-mount seat, tank, and fairing
*-rebuild & tune engine

*= the current paint is decent, but it won't last. I'd feel better having it all powder coated. What do you think?
*= Can I bore out this little guy? If so, how big could I/should I go? This is gonna be a rad build and I'm okay going extreme with the motor.

I am thinking of getting mine overbored.
My piston is finished and an overbored piston is actually cheaper for some reason.

I have wanted to look into the cost of mill work, but havnt really had the time as yet. If I find out the basic price I will let you know. Shouldn't be too much seeing as it is just one cylinder and all. Who knows it might even take my 100cc upto 120cc! haha

Any progress on this Blake?

I havn't done a damn thing to my bucket racer in ages seeing as my other bikes have been total bastards to me recently stopping me from riding!

This weekend, the kawasaki is back on the table. I will finish the engine rebuild, clean up the frame and wack it in!

Well, wisdom teeth surgery, teeth splinters in my gums, and a followup infection put me out for a while. Now we're in between moving and everything is packed up. Add to this my summer job as a summer camp director, and I have NO TIME IN THE WORLD. It's sad, but at least I can dream about this Fall, our new place, and getting down to business with this bike.

Damn sorry to hear about your recent bummers.

summer camp director ey? Isn't that like the first character that gets killed in every one of those slasher movies?

And yet another build with remains unknown. Come on, I need this one to finish. DTT needs more smaller bikes.

Well here is the update:
Spent most of July ill with the flu or something. Came back to the city, moved into the new place. Found out my wife was pregnant right before the semester started at school. I am currently a full time house husband, full time student, and I have a part time job. In spite of this, my CB500T is running again. The wife is in her 6th month and the bike... well you'll kick yourself over it but I tried selling it on here for $300 to no avail. A guy from Atlanta came over and bought the yellow tank for $100. Another guy from Buckhead came buy and bought the rest for $300 ;D. Guy was a BMW guy but wanted to show up to bike night on something different than the other guys. So, $200 investment, with a 200% return. Debating buying a shotgun (exhibit A) or a nice bit of jewelry for my wife (exhibit B):
