Re: 1978 Suzuki GS 550 E

getting the proper main jets is a good idea.... drilling jets works, but it spirals them and throws the fuel mixture off a bit from cylinder to cylinder.

Re: 1978 Suzuki GS 550 E

so I've been riding around for a couple weeks on the drilled mains, and it seems pretty good, I just rewired the bike a bit to get rid of the airbox and it looks super slick!

I also swapped out the tail light for one from tractor supply co ($10) and while it's not perfect, it looks pretty good, at least a lot better than the old light.

I don't have a pic, but I also elongated the crankcase vent tube so it won't blow onto my leg anymore.
Now all I need to do is relocate the battery and I'll have that lovely see-thru frame!

I'm thinking about calling it " OL' SMOKEY "

yay first update in a long while. after riding around town for most of the summer, the level of smoke warranted an oil change to thicker oil and somesnake oil ring fixer, it did bump the compression by about 5 psi all around but with a high of 90 and a low of 70, it was smoking like a stunt plane andthere's plenty of room for improvement, so I bought some NOS +1 rings and as we speak the engine is in pieces as I replace the rings and gaskets from the barrel up, I should be done saturday as it took about 4 hours to tear down with cheese and olive breaks in the 95+ degree heat.
