Hi guys This is my first time installing something bigger than after market turn signals!
A big bike and a big pain in the ass!
Seat was upholstered at a small car shop in Hayward for $45. The guy only had to cover it it. I used foam insulation for the seat cushion. I have no idea how it is going to feel when it's hot! I have already sat on it while it was on the bike and it feels just a little bit more comfortable than your standard sport bike seat. I decided to go with brown leather for the seat cover and it turned out quite nice. I did not plan ahead and now i have to make some half moon cuts into the front so that it will clear the stok gas tank mounting bolt and breather hose. I also have to cut an indentation into the seat to clear the top of the rear shocks. This is going to suck!
I can already tell...this is going to take me another month or two to finish. I am am definately going to need a seat pan. It flexes a little too much when i sit on it.
I had to cut about 5" inches off the back of the bike so that the seat would go over the frame. The rear fender had to be removed. I also had to cut about 5" off the back of the mudguard. It was sticking up too high. The tabs that the stock seat bolted into also had to be cut. The helmet lock had to be cut off also to allow the seat to sit flush. I will have to go back and cut off the rest of those three tabs.
If anybody has any tips or advice, please do not hesitate to chime in. I need all the help i can get!
