Re: 1979 cb650 project

Alright another 79-650 build. You're braver than I am tackling that engine. I'll be keeping my eye on this build

Re: 1979 cb650 project

You could use a soft wire brush to clean the pistons and combustion chambers or steel wool.

Re: 1979 cb650 project

well i finally got her together after almost 3 weeks but i still have a problem the first start up i had was bad valves ticking like crazy and i first thought it was the fact that the cam or valves werent oiled correctly or at all so i let it run for a minute and it didnt work at all i need to re adjust the valves and get this beast running

Re: 1979 cb650 project

ok guys im having issues adjusting the valves on my 650 i do the process right and adjust the right valves on each stroke and yet when i get her back together the valves start ticking again it is irritating the heck outta me is there anyone in the houston texas area that can help me out i am about to break down and get the honda dealer to do the work for me im tired of not riding my bike

Re: 1979 cb650 project

She looks good with the clipons.

How did you deal with that mess of cables and wires. I put drag bars on mine which were much narrower than original bars and the stuff was everywhere.

And I changed my mind about tackling tearing down the engine. Right now the bike is apart getting ready for a new paint job and engine rebuild.

Re: 1979 cb650 project

its actually got the clubman handle bars on it not the clip ons. it took me a while to figure out how to get all the cables routed good with out binding or pulling and twisting other cables. it took me a grand total of 4 hours

ok guys my bike is for sale now i need to get rid of it because i am running out of money to work on it. it runs and rides fine i just dont have the money to keep putting parts on it. i need something that is cheaper on gas

i live in houston texas. and yes im looking to get a vespa i need somethign better on gas considering all the places i go to are within a 5-10 mile radius from my house
