1979 CB750f Cafe Racer Build

I always pull the head and cylinders and blast the hell out of them. The bottom end is easy to clean by hand. The fins, not as much.

eventually I will, it just caked on so much grime and shit over the years of sitting that it would take me forever. You think i'll be okay if the inlets and outlets are sealed up?

Awesome build, just started tearing down a '80 CB750F myself. Looking forward to see what you do with your bike, I'll be trying some similar things after cleaning and restoring all the mechanical and electrical.

As far as cleaning the bike, I have never worked on a bike in my life, but the Clymer manual has made disassembling the engine a breeze, highly recommend if you want to learn the insides-and-outs of the DOHC. After reading around the web I decided to try out mineral spirits to clean the engine gunk, seems like a lot of people have had success doing such. Thougts on this anybody? I'll post updates to my thread as soon as I get to it (hopefully tomorrow). Cheers!

I'll be pressure washing it today, ill post before and after pics to show if there is any change. Im almost positive there will be, it looks like someone dragged this engine through a mound of shit and then gave it a shower in oil. We'll see if it helps. ???

Had a delivery today waiting for me when I got home!! Thanks DCC! ;D

Also, pressure washer turned out better than expected! knocked off all the grim and even stripped about 50% of the paint off as well! I'll post up a picture of before and after once I get home.

Here's another small update, mocked up the bike to see how the tank looks with the wheels. I'll be making the cowl and seat pan hopefully today.

It was Kawasaki green when I first got it. Tore it down, rebuilt the engine, cafe'd the tank and rear fender, and painted it pearl white with a candy black stripe with Kawasaki green pin stripe....first bike my twins where on too ( didn't ride it, only 9 months at the time).. Shouldn't of sold that bike. ::)
