Been Around the Block
Well i bought a chinese carb from evilbay and i think its junk. Any way I want to buy a new carb and was looking a maybe a mikuni but what modifications would i have to do? Would it work with stock air filter?

What's so wrong with the stock carb?
Good quality, and millions of them around.

eBay carbs are knock off junk.

I just bought a 1980 CBS125S and am also having carb issues. I have not given up yet but have started considering the possibility of having to get a new one. If I did I would be looking for a used Keihin or as close an OEM replacement they still make today. Would you let me know what happens for you? Same question as above, what happened to the old carb? It might be fixable, and if not I might need parts :p Seriously, I think I need a release spring for the choke butterfly.

I found the stock carburetor information very difficult to find, but I'm pretty sure I got the following, which might help you in finding a replacement.

The original carb is a Keihin PD22 (PD22A I think) carburetor, and I THINK, emphasize THINK the choke opening is 24mm, but have not measured yet.
They used this carb 1980-1982, even though the rest of the stuff on the bike is pretty much the same back to 1971.
The specs/measurements in the shop manual you can easily find for the CB125 are for the carb pre 1980, some match up but others clearly do no (like the float level I've learned since they are much different).
