1980 CB650c carb fondling

Trying My Best Since 1982.
Hello everyone - I hit a low point today with my 1980 650C and spent most of the day moping around and telling myself, "Fuck it, sell the bike and buy a Triumph!". When that didn't fix my problem, I decided to pull the carbs and start going through them... I discovered something interesting.

The needle on #2 seems to be gone... Now, I'm no mechanic and to be clear, I'm just BS'n my way through this project but something about this needle seems wrong. See below.

In addition, you see that O-ring? That thing just rolled out of the carb when I got it to the work bench. I think it came from #2 but I cant say for sure.

The jets seem to be ok, meaning - they look shiny and clean.

I did, however, order some new ones based on a post I saw here. I'm running these K&N air pods so I ordered these jets from Jets-R-Us:

GENUINE Keihin main size 120 (SKU- 99101-393 )
Keihin slow jet size 42 (SKU- K 3L)

Tomorrow, I'll attempt to get this assembly apart.

Any advice, suggestion or opinions so far are more than welcome!

check the carb the broken air screw was in

the tip is probably broken off in the carb body and you will have to get it out before

you can replace the screw

Also each air screw has a spring, a washer and an o-ring.

I assume they are still in the carb bodies? You need to get them out. You can use a pick or a piece of spring wire bent into a small hook to fish them out.

I got the springs without issue but I didn't see any washers or o-rings (except for the one that rolled out on me). Either I haven't come across them yet, they're stuck or they just aren't in there at all.

So many hidden treasures in this build so far. Who knows, maybe Jimmy Hoffa's head will come rolling out of the air box.
