Hello

Last winter I spent my time tuning and cleaning my 1969 CL175 beauty. Now that that project is done (minimally) I needed a new project to start. My neighbors (bunch of rice racers) were moving out of their house. They have had this POS sitting in their driveway for quite some time. Actually the bike was in great shape only 1970 miles on it. The bike had been sitting for 32 years without being registered which means it has dropped out of the DMV system (I hope this is a good thing).

So I got this baby home and tried to start it up. It started great but ran like crap - sounded like it was running on one cylinder but the previous owner reassured me that it runs great and it must be an electrical problem. No problem - moving one.

Time to take this whores clothes off and transform her into an obedient beautiful piece of machinery.

First thing I did was strip the tank to see what it would look like in bare metal

I was considering keeping it raw steel and just oiling it with Marvels Miracle Oil from time to time to prevent rust. That idea was thrown down the drain when I cut all the crap out of the top of the tank to smooth it out and add a Monza cap. So I welded in the filler panel and drilled a hole for the cap. I was ready to braze the threaded bung into the hole (stupid me thinking I could actually do it) I melted the ring and now I need to order a new one.

Since then I have added knee dents - picture coming soon.

I soda blasted everything and took in for powder coating and started working on the motor.

3 weeks later I received my powder coating back

I figure since the motor only has 1970 miles on it there was not need to refurb the engine so I just prepped and painted it.

I decided to shave down the fins on the valve cover and cylinders to give a metallic effect against the black
