1980 CM400 cafe'ish style

You MUST cut the posts before putting any other tank on. I can't imagine any other tank fitting over those long posts... *maybe* a CB400 tank but I doubt it. The tunnel of the 350 tank is wider than the cb500t tank but still requires cutting the posts down.

CB400T is a direct replacement. I have a friend coming over tonight to try out his CX500 tank because the part number for the cushions on the CX and CM are the same from honda. We'll see how that goes, lol

I've seen a couple CM400s with CX500 tanks. If the tank is the deluxe model, I love that tank. I think it is a little longer than stock so it would probably require seat modification but those are really nice looking tanks.

Bike died on me before I could go test fit the tank. Once I get it sorted out, I'll let you know how it works out. Maybe I'll get a knowledge base of what tanks fit the CM. There are more questions than knowledge about these bikes I've found. We are just starting to get a lot more answers now.

Love your build

My bike was given to me as a partial project (meaning someone had ripped everything apart)

I'm curious how the front part of the stock seat clips onto the bike? does it go ontop of the gastank cushion or what? ???
please describe or post pics of that area of the bike!!

I know this sounds like a stupid question, but when someone hacks stuff apart, its hard to know if your missing something

I don't have any pictures of the area in question but the tank bolts to a raised lip area on the frame... the front of your seatpan should have a flat area protruding from the bottom... this slides under the lip that the tank bolts to.

Also... I forgot to post a pic of the painted case. I like it - I think it makes it look cleaner.
Some may feel that it is too much black but I kind of like the flat black / gloss black contrast.
