1980 cm400a carb swap?

My name is Thomas and I'm hoping I can find some answers on here to get me out of a jam hah. So my girlfriend and I picked up a 1980 cm400a for her first bike to get comfortable riding, which was great because I also have a 79' cm400t that I've been riding and working on for years. Anyways, we've been fixing it up and making it the way she likes it until we got to the carb boots....
They were old, brittle, and cracked so needed to be replaced. I found some cm400 boots and had her order them unknowing to me that the model A bikes are the only ones with a smaller carb throat diameter. After scouring the net I could only come across a single pair of aftermarket boots for the 400A, except they are over $250. The only thing left to do besides cut my arm off to pay for these would be find some salvage cm400 carbs to swap out. I know there are a few other posts on here regarding that, but they lead nowhere or just end. Can anyone tell me if I picked up some carbs from a salvage yard and gave them a thorough cleaning and rejetting if they would work? Thank you in advance!
This is her on her bike and this is me on mine
