I purchased and fixed cb650c that is practically brand new and runs brand new with only 8200 miles. As many of you know, the cb650 is the forgotten bastard child of the cb family and aftermarket parts are hard to come by, however I would like to make it look more aggressive. First things to be changed are the handlebars which I will order sometime next week, I already removed the rack and windscreen. I was wondering if anyone has advice for replacing the seat and tank, Id prefer not to mod the frame so any advice on easyseat fabrications or interchangeable tanks/ other parts would be appreciated. Id prefer to go the cafe route but it seems bobber is the way to go for 650's
Clean bike.
If i were you i;d consider going the Brat bike route. I consider bobbers as hardtailed bikes. The bike is already in great shape and brats are relatively easy build and modify if this is your first go at it and shouldnt have you stuck not riding because uve stripped the whole bike down. search around this site and the rest of the internet for some ideas before you rush into anything.
goodluck
Thanks, I wouldn't mind going the brat route but I'm stuck on how to fabricate the seat, the frame is too wide to use a skateboard as the base, it seems my only option would be to fabricate a fiberglass base for the seat, or find a ruined seat on craigslist and work around the original base.
You could trim the seat foam down and have it reapholsered.Or,find another if you don't want to cut up the original. (I happen to know where you could buy a decent stocker for cheap!) That's a really clean example you got yourself. Totally understand not wanting to cut it up. Sometimes it is nesisary(sp.) to get the look you want. If you decide to go that route, put a brace in before you start cutting. Just my .02 Nice bike and good luck!
Im going to try to find an older seat, and start carving away at the foam. Ideally it would look something like this http://www.bratstyle.com/R0020030.jpg , this http://www.bratstyle.com/R0019276.jpg , or this http://www.bratstyle.com/R0019270.jpg
http://item.mobileweb.ebay.com/viewitem?itemId=400262443736 hey, I came across this seat, anythoughts? It might be cheaper to buy this instead of fabricating one although I do like the bratstyle seats much more.
