1981 honda cm400e

Got the fender installed as well as the sidecovers. Bought the new head light. Brake lever and blinker bulbs should be here this coming week. Still need to cut the straight pipes off and install the slip ons.
What chain does everyone recommend? Mine definitely needs replacement as well as the sprockets.
Hopefully Thursday i can register her and be on the road. And do the little things i want to change as i go.

Well i got the pipes cut. But now i cant start the bike because my dad messed up the netural switch ground, now that is gonna put me further back. Need to figure out how to by pass it or fix it.

Look for the wiring diagram and bridge the contacts

Yeah i have the wiring diagram, just not sure which ones i bridge. Im horrible when it comes to wiring but i havr a buddy coming through tomorrow that wil take a look. Thank you for the advice.

Forget the switch I've been working crazy hours, it was a fuse. I looked at it that day and thought it was good. Realised tonight it was blown. All good now.

Horns all set not blowing fuses anymore, bike is registered. Now i need the front brake handle bolt to hook it up to pass inspection hopefully local honda has it.

Well bikes not inspected, the guy told me he wouldn't touch it. So i didn't even get it failed. Guess I'm gonna have to figure out what needs to be replaced now. Not that i have the money. So i might have to sell it.

Might not be as bad as you think. Find out what the problem is first ;)

Maybe someone in your area can give you some pointers on what does and/or doesn't need to be done.

Take it somewhere else. I dunno what state you're in but here in MA as long as you have all necessary lights (hi/lo headlight, directionals, tail and brake light) and a muffler they don't look twice. And if you can ride it down the road confidently (has brakes, clutch works, shifts etc.) I don't see why you can't get it inspected. Definitely seen bikes in way worse shape on the road

If you go onto the state DOT site they may have the requirements for certification and who in your area can do them. If you took it to the dealership, I've read posts from others, that some won't deal with old bikes. I'm in Ontario, Canada and here some cars shops can do bike certifications, may be the same in your state.
