1981 Suzuki GS450 Cafe

Mr. Sinister

Been Around the Block
This is a running and ride-able bike, and is currently tagged.

What it is:
I've decided to sell my 81 GS450, done with a Cafe inspiration, but not strict adherence to the style. It has 12,xxx original miles (still being ridden, so it will increase). The engine is 100% stock, and runs like a champ. It fires in cold weather with the choke set on the first crank over. Carbs were professionally rebuilt last summer (I have the receipt). Valves were inspected (and within spec) last summer. Stock exhaust was cut and wrapped, with baffles inserted into the pipes to keep the noise down, and the air/fuel mixture right. Headlight, taillight, and turn signals are all LED, and blink properly. Tank is from a GS450E, seat is a fiberglass aftermarket unit. The factory GS450T side covers were cut to work with the E tank. EVERYTHING on this bike works just as it should, and it can be ridden anywhere as it sits. I've personally had it on a 100 mile ride.

What it needs:
It needs a rear tank mount fabbed. The rear of the tank is secured with zipties currently, and it's not going anywhere, but it you want it to be totally right, I'd fab the bracket. If it sells the bike, I'll do it myself.
If you're a larger guy, you might want to upgrade the rear shocks to something stiffer. I weigh 240 pounds, and they're a little soft with me on it.
That's it!!

This is no show bike, so it's not perfect. But it is an honest bike, and a great rider. Some of the aged Japanese fasteners had to be replaced during assembly when they broke, so there is the odd nut or bolt that isn't factory perfect. I built this bike for myself to ride, so it's done safely and sanely. I basically took what Suzuki made, and made it Cafe. There are no mods to the frame, forks, or suspension. All that aside, it gets a lot of attention and positive comments wherever I ride it.

I'm ASKING $2k, but I will work with the right buyer. The bike can be seen and ridden in Fair Hill, Maryland. It's being sold to finance a new project for my wife and I. Most of the factory parts I removed or changed will go with the bike.

Any questions, just ask!!
