1981 xs400 EL SUSTANTIVO

Good progress. It is interesting to see what you are doing, as our projects are basically the same bike. You mentioned that you installed bronze swing arm bushings. Where did you get them? My swing arm was tight, so I just drilled the swing arm tube and tapped in a grease fitting so that now I have a greaseable swing arm. I don't know what the deal with the old system was...
Nice work! I hope to start on my painting this week. Hopefully it turns out as nice as yours has so far.

mikesxs.com has em the 650 and 400 use the same part# the tapered roller bearings are boss too ebay has em for like 30 bucks.

A little progress, engine has killer compression on both sides, so i really don't want to tear it down to paint it. and it's 70 degrees in phoenix so it's time to ride! I will pull the engine when it gets to 120 degrees and paint and grind on the frame.

need a gas cap, headlight brackets and fork dust caps. the frame and the engine are very dirty and need to be pressure washed they aren't as corroded looking as the pics make out.

70 huh I want to shoot you. :D Looks good I would probably want to get that thing ridable too rock on man and keep it up.

I've got an XS400 myself. Your strip down and build process so far is identical to mine haha. I'll definitely be keeping an eye on this thread also.
