1982 CM450A Accelerator diaphragm kit

Hiya!

There's no aftermarket accelerator pump diaphragm rebuild kit (Honda part: 16021-MC1-004) in existence for a 1982 CM450A.


Has anyone replaced the diaphragm on one of these bikes?
What part did you use?
Did you have to modify it to get it to work?

buy one from a 1980 or 81 cx500

then cut the shaft down to match

the rubber and the spring are the same its the plunger that is a little longer

cut it off and de burr it

I saw that kit and unfortunately it fits every model of CM450 EXCEPT the CM450A Hondamatic.
The Honda part numbers are different, which means there are physical differences to the pieces.

Hondamatic.....

... it's the same as the 1980 Honda CM400A Hondamatic.

I happened to have a handful of 1980 CM400A parts when I took my newly-purchased 1982 CM450A for a carb rebuild/clean. The accelerator pump diaphragm he took out of the 450 was the same as the one I'd purchased for the 400.
