1983 Suzuki GR650 XD Cafe Build

I bought this bike with no title and 722 original miles on it for 400 dollars it sat in a barn for 20 some years and i have taken it completely apart. it is sitting in my garage in hundred pieces i am mopdifying mostly everything. here are some pics any suggestions r welcome!

im just starting to take apart the engine and the oil was full of gas so i need to rebuild the carbs or new gaskets if anyone can help!

here is the stuff i just bought to strip the paint easier and primer it so it doesnt flash rust

some cleaner and rust remover

once i get everything stripped and the engine and carbs fixed im gonna strip then prime, mean while im buying all the cafe pieces i need to convert it put it together how i like it, take it apart and paint it. ill keep my build page updated, thanx for checkin it out!

Jessie, check over in the GSResources for the tutorial on carb cleaning. Should ne on Basscliffs site- the one from Flaming Chainsaws is for a gs450 and probably close.

I thought you had a title for this? You really shouldn't spend another dime or minute on the bike until you have the title.

ill get the title im not worried about it, tonight i took off the crank case comp and it looks beautiful definately original 724 miles on this bike

here is my damaged float u can c it great in theis pic, i think the petcock was on and this kept flowing gas to the engine which made my oil so gassy

heres the other carb looks at about 50% compared to the other one at 25%

im going to buy a 81 GS 500 gas tank tomorrow or saturday since the one that came with my bike is complete rusted out garbage... if any one wants it let me know i guess ill post it on the parts forsale now

Those carbs are pretty bad. Try an ultrasonic cleaner.

found a good sealed tank off a 81 gs 650. like the color?
